ABOUT THE EVENT

Manchester Pride Festival is a ‘party as protest.’ We're a part of the largest LGBTQ+ liberation movement in the world, celebrating queer people, culture and expression as loudly and publicly as possible in a refusal to hide in shame.

Pride has grown exponentially in its 50+ year history as a movement for queer liberation. But the fight is far from over.

With LGBTQ+ youth increasingly experiencing bullying, self-harm and homelessness and the recent rise in anti-LGBTQ+ hate crimes, it’s more vital than ever that Manchester Pride celebrations remain strong.

McGill Productions

The famous Manchester Pride Parade is the city’s biggest parade, grinding traffic to a halt as tens of thousands of LGBTQ+ people and their allies march together for equality. Thousands more line the streets to spectate on the spectacular parade of colours.

The Candlelit Vigil provides a moment of reflection to remember those we have lost to HIV/AIDS. The Vigil also presents an opportunity to stand together unified against the discrimination and stigma that LGBTQ+ people still face today.

Manchester Pride August events take place across the full August Bank Holiday weekend. Some events are free to attend and others require you to purchase a ticket.

26th - 29th August

Gay Village Party

The Gay Village is at the heart of Manchester Pride. The Gay Village Party takes place over the full August Bank Holiday and is packed with entertainment.

Candlelit Vigil

The culmination of Manchester Pride Festival, beautifully closing with a moment of reflection in Sackville Gardens marked by a sea of flickering candles.

Superbia Weekend

An arts & culture programme as part of Manchester Pride Festival weekend celebrating LGBTQ+ life through poetry, art, music, dance and more.

Youth Pride MCR

A free event especially curated for our younger LGBTQ+ members aged 14-18 fusing fashion, music, art, performance and creativity.

Free & Ticketed

Family Pride MCR

We believe it’s never too soon – or young – to start celebrating Pride. This family-orientated programme boasts plenty of fun activities geared towards learning.

Human Rights Forum

Prominent activists and thought-leaders discuss the challenges that continue to face LGBTQ+ communities today and what we as individuals can do to bring about political or social change.

Manchester Pride hosts a diverse range of events all year round supporting intersectional LGBTQ+ communities, spanning community events, queer arts and culture, events curated especially for LGBTQ+ youth and more.

When does Manchester Pride Festival take place?

The Manchester Pride Festival 2022 takes place from 26th - 29th August.

How much money from every Manchester Pride Festival ticket goes towards the Community Fund?

£2.50 from every pledge band purchased goes directly to the Manchester Pride Community Fund to help LGBTQ+ good causes in Greater Manchester.

Do I have to pay to enter the Gay Village over Manchester Pride Festival?

Manchester Pride Festival offers a packed programme of events over the August Bank Holiday weekend, such as the Gay Village Party, the Superbia Weekend, Youth Pride MCR, Family Pride MCR, the Parade, the Human Rights Forum and more.

The Gay Village Party is our only ticketed event, meaning that Manchester Pride's programmed areas within the Gay Village, such as our performance stages and event spaces, require a ticket to attend.

Manchester Pride holds licenses to host celebrations in certain areas of the Gay Village, and your Gay Village Party ticket includes access to these stages and programmed areas including Sackville Gardens, MancUnity Stage and the Cabaret Stage.

Manchester Pride is a charity and the cost of a Gay Village Party ticket helps Manchester Pride deliver a safe, community pride celebration. You can see how every penny of your ticket is spent by heading to our website, and remember that every ticket includes a £2.50 ring-fenced donation to Manchester Pride Community Fund.

How can I apply to take part in the Parade?

Those wishing to take part in the Parade will be required to complete this form.

Applications will close on 28 June 2022 but they may close sooner if the Parade is full, so we advise you to apply early if you’d like to take part.
