In the Pride In Our Future Report published in February we stated we’d share more information by the end of March as part of our commitment to being more transparent.
Within this article you’ll find more details on the donation from tickets to the Manchester Pride Community Fund and the issues and organisations that will be prioritising for grants in 2022. We also share details on our Low Income Tickets programme and what the procedure for applying for these tickets will involve. The multiple opportunities to consult and co-design Manchester Pride events are also detailed.
A £2.50 fixed donation from every ticket will go directly to the Manchester Pride Community Fund.
Ticket prices and a breakdown showing what percentage of each ticket is attributed to different elements of delivering Manchester Pride will be shared when tickets go on sale in April. Tickets purchased through Ticketmaster will be subject to a 10% service charge, this is on the face value of the ticket only and not the £2.50 donation.
The Manchester Pride Community Fund raises essential funds to support LGBTQ+ communities. Every penny donated to the Manchester Pride Community Fund goes directly to LGBTQ+ causes and projects in Greater Manchester. This means none of the money you donate goes to the day to day operations of The Manchester Pride Charity.
Grants from the Manchester Pride Community Fund are available to LGBTQ+ community and voluntary groups, organisations and registered charities in Greater Manchester.
Organisations will be required to apply for a grant from the Manchester Pride Community Fund. The new, streamlined grant application process will be published by the end of May. Grant applications will be reviewed and rewarded by the Manchester Pride board of Trustees and the Community Grants Panel which will be established by the end of May.
In 2021 we conducted an in-depth consultation, and part of this consultation was to understand the issues and types or organisations that our communities wanted us to support in order to review our grant making strategy.

In addition to this, Hate Crime is our iconic issue for 2022 and we will be campaigning against LGBTQ+ hate crime.
Our goal is to be industry-leading and ensure we are inclusive for all people who would like to enjoy our events. Our Low Income Ticket Programme aims to open up the celebrations up to more people. We outlined in the Pride In Our Future report that we are committed to being more transparent about this programme and promoting it more widely to give those on low incomes the opportunity to join us across the August bank holiday.
Low income tickets will be priced based on a percentage reduction on the full price ticket.
Low income tickets are reserved for participants on a limited income who cannot otherwise afford to attend Manchester Pride.
Low income tickets are restricted to Greater Manchester residence only, due to the limited number available.
Low income tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and they will be on sale until 30th June 2022 or until they have sold out.
Low income tickets will be subject to a £2.50 additional contribution to the Manchester Pride Community Fund.

How to Apply
Low Income Ticket applications go live when our tickets go on sale - please check back soon to apply.
To apply for a Low Income Ticket, customers will need to complete a short online application form and upload relevant documents. We will reply within 10 days with the outcome of the application. Once applications have been approved, customers will be emailed a ticket link to complete their purchase. Customers will have 14 days to complete the purchase of their Low Income Ticket before the link expires. These tickets are non transferable.
To qualify for the Low Income Ticket Programme, you will need to provide evidence of one of the following:
Universal Credit
Working Tax Credit
Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
We appreciate that some people on a low income may not receive one of the State Benefits listed above, so we suggest that anything below an annual Full Time salary of £16,000, which approximately equates to the UK Living Wage, could be considered a low income. Customers can contact us directly to discuss and each request will be looked at on an individual basis.
Co-design Workshops
We will be hosting co-design workshops for various aspects of the Manchester Pride Weekend with a variety of stakeholders including:

The programming and stages in the Manchester Gay Village Party will be co-produced with organisations and icons from our local LGBTQ+ communities including:

Queer Women collective producing the Queer Women’s Takeover Stage

Consultations
Over 2022/23 we will host consultation workshops to gather feedback from marginalised groups within the LGBTQ+ communities about how we can work to support them, improve visibility and inclusion in Manchester Pride. These workshops will be held online, with an option for those who cannot attend to submit questions, ideas or recommendations in advance for discussion. We will hold additional in-person drop in sessions for those who cannot access online workshops.

Additionally, we will be holding in-person drop-in sessions for community members to meet the team, meet the trustees and bring any questions or feedback points focussed around our four pillars for the year; Community, Transparency, Activism and Giving.
We will be holding our an annual Town Hall in Q4 and this will be open to the public.
Commencing from April 2022, we will hold a series of forums to decide the direction of Manchester Pride events 2023 and beyond.
Surveys
Throughout 2022/23, we will undertake surveys to inform our plans and responses to the vast array of events we hold across the year. These surveys will ensure we obtain valuable data about what our stakeholders like and dislike, along with the opportunity for respondents to give open feedback about what they feel is important. We will release reports with the results of the surveys to ensure clarity and transparency for our communities.
